BMI 7810 - Peer Review: Approach Section Outline Assignment

Before You Explore

In this course, students compose a grant proposal--specifically in the form of an NIH F(31) grant proposal. The instructors of the course hope that the students will be able to use this proposal to either secure funding for their graduate program or for the development of a thesis proposal. To this end, the instructors and an ODEE instructional designer found value in incorporating peer review into the course on the major components of the proposal: the research purpose statement, the specific aims, and the approach section outline. In order to make the assignments valuable and effective, the instructors and the instructional designer worked with Dr. Chris Manion, the coordinator of Writing Across the Curriculum at Ohio State, to develop some instructional aids for students doing Peer Review.
