Introduction to NURSING 7538

Context

NURSING 7538: Teaching in Nursing Capstone is part of the online Nurse Educator Certificate, which will prepare you with the knowledge you need to become a nurse educator. For nurses with master’s or doctoral preparation, the graduate-level courses that are part of the certificate contribute to your eligibility to take the national certification exam to become a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). Each course is seven weeks long, which means you can complete the certificate in as little as two semesters.

This module is from Week 6 of the course and covers special considerations for clinical teaching.

Catalog Description

We have a responsibility to know best practice in teaching, just like we know best practice in patient care. Over the next seven weeks we'll focus on the application of best pedagogical practices in selected nursing education encounters/settings. The course includes a 'field experience' that is guided by nurse educator preceptors chosen by you and approved by faculty. You will observe a nurse educator for 37.5 field experience hours. The field experience includes a final project where students incorporate best practice in the design and implementation of a teaching-learning strategy.
